What is a denture?

A denture is a very simple and relatively quick way of replacing a lost tooth, or several of them. Almost all patients are candidates for having dentures. However, in patients with no existing teeth and severely flattened jawbone, it might be very tricky to construct a denture that will stay still in the mouth without moving.

An effective way of solving this problem of loose denture is to add a few implants in the jawbone first. After 3 months (this is the time it takes for the implants to stabilize in the jaw) the denture construction can be started. This considerably increases the stability of the denture.

Is a denture right for me?

More natural looking and more comfortable than ever before, today’s dentures are a great solution for patients who do not suit implants or a bridge to replace lost teeth.

If most or all of your teeth are missing, a full denture may be for you. On the other hand, we may recommend a partial denture for those who still have some natural teeth remaining.

You can be any age to suit dentures, and there are not the same kind of limitations with health and bone density that some patients may experience with other solutions, such as dental implants.

Dentures are also one of the more cost effective solutions for replacing missing teeth. If you have health insurance, your provider may help you with the cost of dentures, so don’t forget to check first.
